THE BRILLIANT INVENTIONS is a duo made up of Elliot Bronson and Josh Lamkin. Their songs have crisply articulated storylines and meaty chorus hooks. In less than a year they won Eddie's Attic bi-annual Open Mic Shootout, were voted Best New Local Music Act by the Atlanta Creative Loafing Readers Poll, and were signed by Russell Carter Management (Indigo Girls, Shawn Mullins). It's catchy, witty, acoustic pop that fans of Ben Folds Five and Fountains of Wayne will enjoy.
Listen:

Although originally from Atlanta, MIKE WILLIS now resides in Nashville.  He has opened for and/or shared the stage with a range of acts including Sugarland, Darryl Worley, John Mayer, Shawn Mullins, Danielle Peck, Ronnie Milsap and many more.  Last year he played at the Key West Songwriters festival and the Tin Pan South Songwriters Festival in Nashville. In November 2008 he was honored to receive the Leon Brettler ASCAP foundation award for being outstanding songwriter-performer, as well as winning the country category of the International Songwriters Competition with his autobiographical ballad “Made For You”.

NIGHT CAP: BEFORE THE SOLSTICE & NEW TRAINERS WITH CHINESE TONGUES
Show time: Midnight / Doors open: 11:30 pm
General admission tickets: $5
BEFORE THE SOLSTICE is the kind of band that penetrates the subconscious and challenges our listless dissonance. Their songs rouse that deep-seated facet of our being and provide an outlet for that which has perhaps been asleep or unable to associate with the outside world or hasn't been able to find the words. Whether the music invokes inspiration, anger, connection or fear, Before the Solstice will no doubt command the attention of your most personal self. Their style is hard to define straightforwardly, since each song carries its own essence. But, the overall feel of Before the Solstice can be summed up as melodic progressive rock with the ability to entrance, make you dance, or punch a hole in the wall! They call it Quantum Rock.
Listen:

NEW TRAINERS WITH CHINESE TONGUES was born out of the ashes of the regional alt-rock touring act Koivu, when members Andrew Housley (voice, guitar, keyboard & sample), James Buchheit (guitars & keyboards) and Frank Perisino (drum, percussion, bass guitar & guitar) began to expand their musical palate, and found their sound in 2009. Focusing their attentions on mood, texture and experimental atmospheric soundscapes rather than being constrained to rigid song structure has allowed them to create a new sound fans have described as ahead of their time. New Trainers With Chinese Tongues is currently recording new material, aiming for a late spring 2010 EP release.
