CAROLINE HERRING's music has been hailed for combining traditional sounds with striking, original observations into modern life and love. The Austin Chronicle proclaimed her album 'Lantana' to be "the best modern Southern Gothic album since Lucinda Williams' "Sweet Old World." On 'Golden Apples of the Sun,' her latest release on Signature Sounds, Herring stakes out new terrain, exchanging the country-influenced sound of her previous albums for a darker, hauntingly personal sound inspired by the iconic female folk singers and songwriters of the 1960s and 70s. In May of 2010, Herring performed at the fabulous Fox Theater, as one of the main acts, on Garrison Keillor's infamous Prarie Home Companion.

RODNEY CROWELL has had a long and varied musical career.  He formed the band The Cherry Bombs, and later released Diamonds and Dirt and generated five number one hits, one of which was a duet with his then wife, Roseanne Cash.  He has won a Grammy and was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame.  His latest album, Sex and Gasoline, is an entire album written about or from the perspective of a woman.  This is classic music at its best, and a show you won't want to miss.

On any given Monday, you'll get to hear some touring performing songwriters, some local touring songwriters home from the road, some local songwriters that don't tour, some up and comers working on their chops, some amateurs that will never tour, and sometimes, someone that you can look back and say I heard them when...but be guaranteed, it'll be an entertaining evening! And for $5, probably one of the greatest entertainment values in the land. For more information on playing at our Open Mic, visit the "Artist Info" page of our website.

Texas born JAY BRANNAN knew from an early age that he didn't really want to fit in with those surrounding him. He pursued a degree in acting from the University of Cincinnati, but soon realized that real life can sometimes be a better teacher than any you'd find at a college. He's lived in California and New York, playing his music and writing songs and even dabbling in some acting along the way. He has released three albums, two of original music and one of cover songs and has played shows in Ireland, the UK, France, Germany, Spain, South Africa, and Australia, among others. The New York Times said, "his tenor voice makes even the saddest lyrics easy on the ear." He has been called "the male Joni Mitchell" by Gen Art Pulse, and The Huffington Post proclaimed "Perhaps if Nick Drake, Janis Ian and Liz Phair all were mixed up in a blender you'd get his sound and songwriting skills."
